Image description
The exhibition is built on a foundation of memories of the artist and her ancestors. Press
captures experiences of pain and loss that help her realize the beauty and joy that surrounds
us all. She believes pain exists to give rise to beauty and wants others to see that dark times
and an appreciation of nature will lead to beauty. This interdisciplinary exhibit includes
writings, paintings, sculptures, and a ceremonial performance, all of which trace her journey
from childhood in the Northeast (Isan) of Thailand to adulthood in United States and gives
clues to viewers to see their own lives' possibilities. Color is her language, and she engages
many dialects of hue that refer back to her native culture. This installation focus on is yellow,
color that represents hope, joy and good luck.
