Legendario is a passion project, that ended up turning into my senior project. As a Salvadoran expat, I've realized that a lot of our culture and traditions are getting lost, therefore, I wanted to create an interactive publication that children (and adults!) could enjoy in either English or Spanish.
The title of this book comes from the combination of the words ‘leyenda’ (legend) and ‘diccionario’ (dictionary), as the book serves as a small tool to keep some aspects of Salvadoran culture alive. Through this book, you will be able to learn a little bit more about the stories that my ancestors grew up with, and you will even be able to create your own story.
Each book is carefully RISO-printed and spiral bound. For every copy sold, a copy will be mailed to a child at "Casa Taller Encuentro" in Panchimalco, El Salvador.

My dad always took me book shopping when I was younger. I loved walking down the different aisles lined with bookshelves and looking at all the different book covers. Looking at all the beautiful typography, the bright colors, and the cute illustrations in the front of the books always drew me in. As a kid, I dreamed of having that power. I wanted to be able to produce something that would naturally attract people's attention. Little did I know then that I back then that I wanted to be a graphic designer.
With Bug-o-Pedia, I wanted a book that kids and adults could both enjoy, similar to the book I would love looking through all those years ago. The final book was bound as a flutter book with a German case binding. Each of the spreads was glued by the edges, so the book block can be pulled out and used as a display. The book was letterpressed and printed as an edition of 5.
