My concept is to design a liminal space that encapsulates the essence of my childhood memories of a birthday party held at a McDonald's when I was young. While my recollection of the event is somewhat hazy, reconstructing the scene from various sources and recreating the memory feels like piecing together a puzzle that unlocks a crucial aspect of my identity.
Our collaborative project with the fashion department revolves around the character Malthael from the renowned video game Diablo by Blizzard Entertainment. The star of our project is Gawn, a stunning creation designed by Cici Yingzhi An. I've been responsible for bringing Gawn to life by creating the Fashion Runway environment, coordinating the lighting, crafting camera movements, and assembling the final edit.
I created this in Unreal Engine. The concept is a part of the aquarium in my mind palace. I find solace in almost everything in aquariums- the coldness, the salty scent of the ocean, the dimness, and the lights shining through the water. It’s an eerie yet nostalgic sensation that captivates me. The desolate and isolated atmosphere makes me feel calm and safe. They become hiding places for me in real life and my mind palace.
