About the Artist
Merissa Mann (b. 1995) creates alluring paintings and soft sculptures that straddle the line between the beautiful and the abject. Building upon ecofeminist notions, Ms. Mann investigates how the construction of desire influences human patterns of consumption. She visually highlights the interrelationship between bodily and natural systems to emphasize our shared connection with nature. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, where she graduated with a BA in Practice of Art and was the first recipient of a Certificate in Design Innovation.
