About
Hi there! I'm a 2D animator and character artist who enjoys experimenting with various styles and am always planning for the future! The main focus of my work revolves around storytelling and fluidity in action. I make comics on the side as well as write scripts, short stories, and poems in combination with my animation skills.

DANCE

Melissa and Ven, two third graders, are dancing in Melissa’s fantasy where there is a colorful dance floor, streamers, an arch balloon, and a party table with a boom box playing music atop it.
DANCE is a short film project I’ve been working on about a third grader, Ven having strange encounters with their classmate Melissa who seems to have formed an unconventional love for dunce caps. Just a fun little story about embracing the unusual!
  • Turnaround sheet of a little girl named Melissa. She wears a school uniform with a large dunce cap on her head. Short in stature, she has big round eyes with a smile on her face. Three bulletin points read “Clumsy, silly, and curious”
Turnaround sheet of Melissa for ‘DANCE’.
  • Turnaround sheet for Ven, a third grader. They wear a school uniform with a brown hair bowl cut and purple spiked bracelets. Three bulletin points read “Easy-going, Lone Ranger, and delinquent”
Turnaround sheet of Ven for ‘DANCE’.
  • Melissa sits in the dunce corner with a dunce cap on. Posters that read ‘don’t believe in yourself’ or ‘a good little boy never talks back’ are stuck up on the wall.
  • In a gloomy classroom, Ms. Owl, a teacher with a broken-looking nose and glaring glasses is bent over to her student, Melissa’s height. Ms. Owl is pointing to the left with an angry scowl on her face. Melissa’s back is facing us as she holds a piece of chalk in her hand while standing in front of a chalkboard that has ‘2+2” written on it.

Creature Design

  • A large, deer looking creature with dark blue skin and light blue spots all around. It has quills on its back that stretch down to its long tail. The creature has translucent neon yellow horns, a glowing blue-green face, and four pink eyes with two on each side.
    Zoo alien animal
  • Text: The Hungy Rotmassi, by Sarah Carranza. The small creature standing, has large blue eyes, a koala nose, chipmunk cheeks, and large, bat-like ears. It has a puff of beige fur on its chest and its arms are those of a flying squirrel with extra saggy skin attached. The bottom half of its body is bird like with a bird tail and yellow bird feet. This creature is standing on a pile of grass.
    Original mythical creature.
  • Text: “Sarah Carranza, creature design, 2019. Teeth have become rotted and chipped over time after sifting through garbage for food. Has multiple colored spots used as camouflage. This creature lives in polluted water.” Large sea-like creature. Brown-grey, blubbery. Speckles of red and blue all around body. It has a long, fish tail with smaller feet and claws for hands. Face resembles a capybara and strands of black hair sit on its head. The backdrop is underwater with sand and garbage around the creature.
